About the Language

Bhojpuri (ISO 639-3 code: bho) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Gangetic Plains of Northern India as well as the Terai region of Nepal. It is chiefly spoken in the western part of Bihar and the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh (UP), India. According to the 2011 Indian Census, Bhojpuri has 50,600,000 speakers in India. Ethnologue mentions 52,405,300 speakers of Bhojpuri worldwide.
